September 1st, 2015: What is Lighting Control?

Light dimming switches, on / off switches, timer switches, motion detecting switches etc.Lighting control is an intelligent network of controls that incorporate communications between different system inputs and outputs. Lighting control does not have to control lights alone; you can also incorporate controllable shades. If you control both lighting and shades, savings can add up on your bills.

As we know, most rooms in houses today have on/off switches for lights with no way of controlling the amount of light you needed or want. By adding dimming switches, we can adjust the light we need and want. Sometimes we only need a little bit of light and other times we need full power of the lights. Dimmer switches can control how much light you need depending on the time of day and time of year or the mood of the room you are trying to create.

Application for controlling light on a touch enabled device / tablet. There are also other ways to help with controlling light and keeping the room with same light. This is achieved by adding a daylight sensor. With the daylight sensors you can also make sure that you room has the same lighting as it gets dark or if you lowered the shades. You can also add occupancy sensors to ensure no lights are left on when no one is in the room. I know this happens all the time with little ones running throughout the house.

Now lighting control doesn't have to be just for inside your house; it can be for your outdoor entetainment area as well. Moreover, it's not just for homes: more and more business are looking for cost saving ways, and lighting control is a great way to start saving today.

What is CCTV? CCTV stands for Closed Circuit Television

History of the Closed Circuit Television.

The first CCTV system was installed in 1942 in Germany. It was used for observing the launch of V-2 rockets. The man who designed and installed it was Walter Bruch. It was not until 1949 when CCTV was first installed in the United States. The earlier systems are nothing like they are today. Back when they were first introduced, you could not even record like we do today.

CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) is a system which is not for the public to watch. It's a circuit which is monitored for surveillance and security proposes. The whole closed circuit television is relayed upon the placement of security cameras. The reason it gets its name is the way the cameras communicate to the monitor(s)/DVR (digital video recorders).

Some of the main reasons people use CCTV today is to watch over their home when they are away or business giving them a sense of security. It's used for visual records of activities of people at banks, casinos, and airports to name a few.

As CCTV has become more popular in the past few years, there are more and more choices. There are many different types and styles of cameras. Bullet cameras are usual for indoor use but you can get outdoor ones. They are mounted walls or ceilings, and pointed to a specific area. Dome cameras are mostly used in retail or office environments. The dome camerad can spin keeping an eye on a bigger area. Infrared/Night Vision cameras have ability to 'see' in pitch dark. They are able to this by using IR sensors. A good outdoor camera will be able to hold up to the elements of weather.

Day/Night cameras will change with the light or darkness allowing you to see the images. These cameras are best for outdoor applications and have a wide range. These are just a few of the different types of cameras. We here at Media Multicom can help you make your choice for what best suits your needs.
